Words I NEVER thought I would hear....
August 21st, 2014 we had a 6 month recheck eye appointment with our FAVORITE eye doc, Dr. T. I can not say how this man & his staff have been AMAZING over the past almost 8 years (WOW 8 years!). They really have hung in there with us with Bubba & when The Beast had his 2 eye exams; I am SO happy that they like us as people & not just patients!
I digress.
We showed up I had my 2 plus the little guy I sit for.
Ms.D says "want to you to your normal waiting area?"
I nodded & smiled.
This is funny because this was Bubba's panic room, we don't have to use it that way anymore now it is a Beast containment room. We got settled in then Bubba was brought into the exam room to read charts Ms. D came back stating they were going to get him started; ah hell it was a full exam today!
took him back into the room a few minutes later put the drops in & the waiting/complaining begins. I actually enjoy the complaining, no seriously I do! 5 years ago I would be wrangling a greased pig being kicked, having the back of his head picked up & slammed against my sternum repeatedly. There was screaming, thrashing & spitting too. Bubba used to have the worst combative panic attacks at Dr.T's & they have always been amazing with each one, they have never told us to find another doctor, they have always given us the best care, they fought to get us in to the office in the beginning to make sure Bubba wasn't permanently blind in his left eye. Seriously I love this practice.
Ms. D came back to check his eyes, shook her head; that meant not dilated yet.
Bubba turns to me "Mom can I go back in the exam room by myself again?"
"For the whole exam you want to be alone?" I asked
"Ya" he stated
"Well OK, just make sure you listen, answer Dr. T's questions & tell him if you are seeing double" I replied cautiously in awe.
SHUT UP!
My kids wants to go into the exam room that I used to have to restrain him with force to get an eye exam done!
WOW!
He went in for his eye exam came out all happy & proud of himself. Dr. T came following after him said he did a GREAT job his eyes are the same AND wait for it....
"We will see you in a year"
I think my jaw hit the floor!
"A year?!"
"Yup"
We both smiled at one another.
Not in a million years when we first started going to the eye doctor did I think I would ever hear him say see you in a year! Not to mention my kid going into the exam room by himself with NO hesitation!
He is growing up SO fast & he has matured in so many ways, I am truly blessed to be able to be with him & watch him in his journey of life.
